Peedie schools collaborative day

On Friday 1st November we went to town to meet children from the other peedie island schools.
P1&2 enjoyed a music session with Mr Miller and the P1&2 children  from Shapinsay school.

After lunch P1&2 children from Rousay and Shapinsay schools played football.

What fun we all had!

This term we have been finding out about all the people who help us.

A special police constable came to school and showed us all the equipment she has to carry.

At the doctor's surgery we learnt what would happen if one of us fell off the climbing frame and was hurt.

Our patient is carried to the ambulance on the stretcher before heading to hospital.

On the ferry the crew showed us how to put on our lifejackets in an emergency situation.

At Stromness lifeboat station we tried on the lifeboat crew's jackets.  They were very heavy.

Bluebells in Braes Woodland

Counting in tens we counted Ann's bluebell bulbs into sets of 150 for planting in square metres in Braes Woodland.

Everybody had a job to do.  Making the holes, planting the bulbs and covering them over.

Firestation visit

On Friday 2nd November we visited the Rousay Firestation where Firefighter Firth showed us around and told us about the job of a firefighter and fire safety.

We all got to sit in the driver's seat of the fire engine.

Hallowe'en

We enjoyed dressing up for Hallowe'en.

In the garden

After the summer holidays there was lots of weeding to do in the community garden raised beds.

And what a crop of vegetables we harvested in October.

In total we grew 53kg of tatties.

After weighing our tatties into 2kg bags, we all got a bag to take home and we gave the rest to the members of the Triangle Club.

Cake making

We baked delicious cakes.
